Creating better user experiences and designing intuitive interfaces at ZOO, a Connelly Partners company.
Working remotely (before it was cool) in Dublin, Ireland.
The Asset Twin is a fundamental part of the Invicara Twinit.io Platform. It is a solution for building handover and a system of record for building operators. I have been its lead UX and UI designer. Design has been informed by pre-build research with clients and key stakeholders, as well as post-build usability tests. Given the detailed nature of many of its functions, high-level prototypes are often required as a proof of concept for internal stakeholders.
This Digital Twin application is built upon the Invicara platform but designed aesthetically through the client brand identity. Working closely with the client, I designed two workflows: creating calculated building energy profiles, and creating optimisations for those profiles. The detailed prototype was then used as a proof of concept and event demo.
Augmenting the functionality of the Asset Twin with real-time data, the Performance Twin is control centre for buildings, optimising all aspects of facility operations. Design required comprehensive workflows accounting for the variety of circumstances that arise when considering real-time information. In addition, new components for representing data visually had to be incorporated.
I coordinated and supervised the redesign of the BIM Classify product, which originally had been "engineer designed". Due to other pressing projects, a third party UX designer and development team were hired. My role was to liaise between the groups and internal stakeholders, as well as to approve the work completed. As the project developed, I took over as the UX designer, working closely with the developers.
As part of my diploma in UX Design, flyUX was the result of comprehensive research including competitive benchmarking, online surveys, user interviews and usability testing. The data was explored through affinity diagrams, customer journey maps and flow maps. The results developed into detailed interaction design and crafted into wireframes and a high-level prototype in Adobe XD.
As part of my certificate in UI Design, Vault was result of research on brand and identity, layout and design principals, typography, colour, iconography, and interactivity. The research manifested as a extensive mood board, balancing a brief which desired a clean, playful, yet trustworthy look. In Figma, I created a responsive design for mobile, tablet, and web.
UX is a problem solving discipline that requires a structured methodology to discover solutions. This requires an iterative process that includes defining problems, researching and analysis to discover user goals and pain points, designing the solution, and continually validating the product.
Take a look at my design processI am experienced in many different creative fields, such as music, design, video, marketing, and UX. I have a extensive background in music production, having worked as a sound engineer and music producer for several years in Dublin and London. I have professional qualifications in UX and hold a Master's Degree in Interactive Digital Media.
I use this creativity and adaptability to be a better problem solver, looking at issues from many perspectives.
I've worked freelance, for startups, and huge multinational corporations. I am keen on building relationships and my broad experience allows me to better understand many different kinds of stakeholders.
In my spare time, I still enjoy playing and composing music. Lately I have been collaborating remotely with musician friends around the world.
